Movie: Frequencies 2013 (Review)

Rating this movie: 9/10

Recommending to: people who like trivial and odd movies like me.

Frequencies is a science, romantic, fiction, and somewhat a fantasy film. This movie is about a world of people where they emit frequency and would identify there score or ranking on how lucky they are. Their luck (score) would also be a determinant of their future success. Higher ranking or score of luck would mean better luck but thus less feelings and Lower ranking would be the opposite and full of chaos.

This movie was starred by Daniel Fraser as Isaac-Newton “Zak” Midgeley and Eleanor Wyld as Marie-Curie Fortune. I know, there names came from famous scientists and inventors. Honestly, their names are the ones that attracted me to watching the movie. I simply love movies about scientists – I just love learning.

Basically, Zak is a super low frequency which means super unlucky and Marie is a super high frequency which means super lucky. Whenever they meet or stand close to each other a negative reaction happen so Marie with her super genius and curious thinking began an experiment with him because Marie wanted to feel Love (Emotion). While Zak who wanted to increase his frequency so he could be with Marie, started exploring and studying frequencies with the help of his friend Theo (Theodore-Adorno Strauss).

I don’t really want to spoil much of this movie but I hope the idea would encourage you to watch. The reason why I love the movie so much are the trivial things about the scientists if you watch closely. I also like the plot twist (Oops.. but yeah there’s a plot twist for a boring movie like this one). Mostly, I like its uniqueness. This is actually the only boring movie I liked, i think?

Movie: Her 2013 (Review)

Rating this movie: 9.8/10

Recommending this movie to: University students, Artists, Indie movie lovers, Dystopian story lovers, Futuristic setting lovers, Aspiring film makers, and For people who wants weird movies like me.

  • Original
  • Witty
  • Great music
  • Heartbreaking
  • Captivating

This movie was recommended by a friend of mine, we usually have the same taste when it comes to artistry. The movie was mainly starred by Joaquin Phoenix as Theodore and the voice of Scarlett Johansson as an OS program named Samantha. Let me start by saying this, the movie is unique and heartbreaking.

It is about a deeply emotional man, Theodore, who is in the process of divorcing his wife, which I personally think made him depressed and empty. There are times he would take a trip down to memory lane remembering the good moments he had with his wife. Moreover, Theodore works as a love letter writer? or uhm.. simply a writer. He works for a service company that writes love letters to the requests of their clients; Theodore basically knows the lives of their clients and is acting as third wheel pretending to be his clients and deeply merged himself emotionally to write the letter for them and he’s basically the one writing the love letters instead of his clients, again – weird. But, a great idea.  The time and setting of this world is way futuristic in terms of technology but ironically, a service for love letter? really? – again, weird. Still, i love the idea.

Theodore stumbled upon a advertisement campaign regarding the newest, innovative,  and evolving OS program – called OS1, it is simply like Siri and Google but has way more senses and consciousness. Theodore acquired the OS and have chosen a female voice for the program which is voiced by Scarlett Johansson. The intelligent OS program named herself Samantha, so Theodore could call her by a name. Theodore quickly made a friendly attachment to Samantha that also turned into an intimate attachment. However, an OS and a human being? – again, weird.

The thing i liked about this movie is everything!!! From cinematography, scriptwriting, plot, idea, actors, actress, artistry, and more. I would like to share this part of the film wherein I felt like I was transported to their world:

I honestly love this movie deep down inside my heart. However, I didn’t rate it a 10 because there is an erotic scene which made me cringe a lot. It is funny and at the same time emotional but it really did make me cringe. XD

A Step-By-Step Guide To Living A Joyful Life

We all have heard the statement “Pursuit of Happiness”, “YOLO”, or “Just be happy”. I see these statements everywhere and I have nothing against them. However, I see life differently and my matter of language with happiness is different. In my understanding, Happiness is fleeting, short-lived, and just for a moment; Happiness is precious and I completely agree with that. Still, this post is not to talk about happiness but the goal of this is to introduce a new principle for everybody who hasn’t pursue this word: JOY. Joy is somehow an infinite feeling and a state of feeling bliss in whatever circumstance; joy is an established spirit within. I would like to share some guides step by step to help you gain a joyful spirit. 🙂

Step 1: Stop, rest, and endure – I remember the words from the book of John Green “The fault in our stars” which says that “Pain demands to be felt” and it is indeed felt and it hurts. Now, the opposite of happiness is sadness and just like the way i see it and understand it. Sadness is also fleeting and short-lived. Sadness doesn’t last as well.  When you stop, rest, endure there will be realisations. You’ll realise that the pain felt is a lesson to help and mold you as you grow in this big world. I hope you will now see it that way. So in the future you would be complete and whole.

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.  James 1:2-4

Recommended movies: Pursuit of happyness, Star Wars, Facing the giants, Three Idiots, The Secret life of Walter Mitty, and Little Miss Sunshine

Step 2: Learn – Learning doesn’t stop, I always say this to all people I meet and when given the chance to encourage people about learning. Achieving joy requires learning and the thinking of continuous desire for learning. Learning is an investment and can take you many places and put you in high places. However, learning how to be on top can result to being entitled, arrogant, and boastful. Learning formal education is good but learning about manners, life, character and values will result to humility and I believe humility is attractive.

Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser. Let those with understanding receive guidance – Proverbs 1:5

People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life, but those who ignore correction will go astray. – Proverbs 10:17

Recommended movies: Dead poets society, The Social Network, Switched at Birth (TV Series), Good Doctor (TV Series), Case for Christ

5 Productive Websites I’d Love To Share

Everybody in this world wants to be productive. I admit that I have been selfish with the websites I always visit because I have been once told that some things in life are not meant to be shared if you want to be ahead but I do not care about being ahead anymore, I just want to live life in peace and be contented. Now, I have finally decided to share because I want to help give ideas to people and this way people would be more productive. Maybe one day or by any chance we’ll have the opportunity to meet or you’ll have the opportunity to meet important people and the impressions in our thoughts would go like this “Oh wow! this person is very productive, she/he is an asset or a future ambassador! ” and that would be attractive.

  1. Zenhabits – This website has taught me a lot especially with routines, habit-making, saving money, life hacks, and life lessons. What I love the most is the simplicity of the website. Also, this website is free, no subscriptions needed.
  2. Lifehack – I also love this website because of the vast content posted by different people. Most contents that are posted in here are about communications, motivations, relationships, lifestyle, psychology, productivity, technology, and work. However, I sometimes get headache because I overload myself by reading a lot of posted articles and content. This website is also free but if you have an ‘adblocker’ like I do; you need to pause it to support this wonderful website. This website has premium articles that requires payment.
  3. Emma’s Studyblr – As a university student, I love Emma’s studyblr because of her free printables. If you have unlimited access to printer or if you are the kind of person who wants hardcopy like notebooks, Emma’s studyblr is perfect. I have printed Emma’s university pack printables and they helped me get organized and helped me plan for my semester. The printables are usually monthly calendars, daily-weekly planners, monthly habit tracker, semester overview templates, and more. Another thing I like about her blog is she engages with people and answers questions right away with regards to studying or anything related to university life.
  4. Lynda – This website comes from LinkedIn. As a university student, you may or may not have a free access to this website; If you do not have free access, you will be required to pay but paying for this one is not a waste but an investment of vast knowledge. It is indeed WORTH IT. I love this website because when you finish a course you get certified certificates that you can showcase to your LinkedIn profile. This can make you look more employable. Lynda offers so many courses from 3D Animation, business, marketing, photography, and to many more. I would highly recommend this website.
  5. Pinterest – I love this website because it is free and I love pinning things on a board and this is a virtual one. You could explore Pinterest with any categories you would like from health, fashion, gym habit, and to many more. Just go ahead and try searching from a-z and you will never run out of ideas, things to do, things to write, wish lists, infographics, life hacks, love life tips, recipes, quotes, and many more!

These websites are really helpful. If you are bored just visit these and you’ll have dozens of ideas on what to do. However, do not overload yourself with information. One does not simply remember all the things read. Overall, Good luck!
